This ministry assists the priest in giving Communion to the Assembly. It may also involve taking Communion to the sick and elderly.
Special Ministers of Holy Communion are commissioned for a two year period. At the end of this time, the situation of the minister, local circumstances and the discretion of the Parish Priest will determine whether new or additional candidates are required, and whether existing ministers be asked to step down.
